About The Event
About the presentation:
The Water Security Agency (WSA) is responsible for over 70 dams and hundreds of kilometers of conveyance works on behalf of the Province of Saskatchewan. This presentation will provide an overview of WSA’s Water Infrastructure Management program, which integrates industry best practices from both Asset Management and Dam Safety. It will dig into how the risk assessments are conducted and how the results inform the prioritization of maintenance and rehabilitation projects across the portfolio of assets.
About the presenter:
Shay Schier is not a geotechnical engineer, though she will attempt to work in a soil related joke or two. She is, however, an Industrial Systems Engineer and has been at the Water Security Agency (WSA) for eight years where she focuses on infrastructure planning, asset management, dam safety and cross‑organizational initiatives that strengthen long‑term decision‑making.
Prior to joining WSA, Shay worked in private industry, where she gained valuable experience in engineering, operations, and project delivery within fast‑paced environments. These experiences continue to inform her practical, systems‑based approach to infrastructure planning.
