Highway 369 Landslide Repair

A fast-moving landslide resulted in the closure of Highway 369 in southeastern Saskatchewan. Thurber was retained by the Ministry of Highways to assess the landslide, prepare a remedial design, and oversee construction.

About The Event
Kyle Bruce is a Geotechnical Engineer and has been with Thurber Engineering in Saskatoon for six years. He graduated from Geological Engineering at the U of S in 2013 and has worked in geotechnical consulting since, both in Alberta and Saskatchewan. Kyle has experience in a variety of areas including assessment and remediation of geohazards, slope stability and seepage analysis, foundations, geotechnical investigations, retaining walls, tailings management and water retention dams.

The presentation goes through a background of the site, Thurber’s assessment of the site and landslide mechanisms, remedial design options and considerations, and final design processes as well as some highlights from construction.
